This year United Voices/ Beats for Peace along with Recruiter Watch PDX, Vets for Peace Chapter 72, PDX Peace Coalition, Global Fam, 45th Parallel Universal Zulu Nation Oregon Chapter, community members and volunteers have partnered up to get all high school students to Opt Out.

We have assembled street teams from the community to conduct OPT OUT actions at local high schools to encourage all students to Opt Out.

Military recruiters target youth using demographics based on personal and private information such as income status, GPA, etc. but by signing the Opt Out form, their information will not be included into the Pentagons database.  For more information about opting out, please read attached documents.

On Friday September 14th, we are hosting

Youth Action Rally Hip Hop Show & BBQ

3pm-7pm-Free for All

@ Glenhaven Park next to Madison High School .

We need all of the help we can get, especially with turn out for the main event. This is a free family friendly event.

Please invite all from your communities to enjoy positive hip hop, B-Boys/ B-girls, information and literature, interactive art displays and live graffiti art.

If you have any ideas as of how you can help or need more information, please contact me or Pam Phan at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

We will be following up next week.

Thank you.
