Global Family NetWork's Mission:
Global Family Net Work (Global Fam) provides resources and educational opportunities to communities and individuals across cultural and geographic barriers to collaborate and create better lives for themselves and each other.
Global Fam was founded in 2007 by Mic Crenshaw and Morgan Delaney in Portland, Oregon. Both have backgrounds in Education, Art, Social Justice activism, and were actually introduced by mutual students in 2004.
Global Fam has initiated a regional tour to schools and community centers in the Pacific Northwest, as well as a series of Hip-Hop concerts headlined by socially conscious rap group, Dead Prez. Proceeds from the concert and other fund raising will go to the African Youth Initiative Network (AYINET), a youth advocacy group in Africa. Global Fam has received a computer grant from Free Geek and laptops from CTL, and will be shipping the computers to AYINET. The computers will be put to use in Rwanda and Burundi of the Great Lakes region in Africa where AYINET is conducting peace initiatives.
In organizing these projects, Global Fam is partnered with the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Education Without Borders (EWB), Boss Up, Inc. as well as other local activists, artists and educators throughout the Northwest.
