Sierra Leone Refugee Adbul Fofanah co-directs Moving 2 the Beat, a documentary film that follows a Portland based hip hop group, Soul Rebelz, to Freetown to meet MCs in Sierra Leone and see what life is like.  A Moving 2 the Beat roughcut will be featured at this year's Cascade Festival of African Films Thursday, February 14th at PCC Cascade's Moriarty Building, room 104.  Following the screening a panel discussion will take place featuring director Fofanah and Soul Rebelz.  Admission is free. 

 On Saturday February 16th, the film will again be screened at New Born Tribe begining at 6 pm.  The movie will be followed by live performances from Soul Rebelz, the featured artists in the film, along with Portland legend Mic Crenshaw and Jefferson High School's USA la Familia, among others.  Admission is $5 and event is all ages with no alcohol.  Nw Born Tribe is located at 3509 NE MLK Blvd.
